Wellness Champion and Social Emotional Learning

     In the summer of 2019, I found and completed an intense yoga and meditation program specifically for teachers, called Breathe for Change (B4C). I am now a certified Wellness Champion and 200-hr CYT, certified yoga teacher. I find the mission of B4C resonates deeply with me- Change the world, one teacher at a time; lead with love- through yoga and meditative practices. I am called to continue this movement for social justice change through changing ourselves and our outlook on reality. I want to bring my innate ability to teach and nurture to many different classroom styles, to all lifelong learners willing and ready to learn, grow, and transform.


      Wellness Champions are trained in SEL*Facilitation. According to CASEL, “Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) is the process through which children and adults acquire and effectively apply the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary to understand and manage emotions, set and achieve goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions.” Breathe for Change, expanded upon the CASEL format to add “facilitation.” As teachers, we first need to be able to manage our own SEL in real time, as well as be able to facilitate these processes for ourselves and our students. The Wellness Champion certification trained me to facilitate SEL through yoga and meditation, along valuable tools to guide my students through these daily life challenges.
